This is how we've engaged with the community

From mosques and stories of migration’s role in providing for neighbourhoods, to parks and murals, and community gardens, we explored how history, culture & people shape how and why we feel safe in our city and communities.
By comparing and contrasting neighborhoods in Oslo, starting among the soulless highrises of Bjørvika and ending up in the warmth of Deichman Tøyen (library) it was not a surprise that the streets with the worst reputation is where we all felt most warm and welcome!
Along the way, the participants used Jane Jacobs insights on "eyes on the street", trained their observation skills by playing a placemaking bingo while learning a bit about hope-based communication and attention restoration theory.

How can walking give us a clearer understanding of more socially just urban spaces and commons? And how, through a children's eye level perspective, can we experience safety, trust, and accessibility?
As a part of the annual Jane's Walk festival, and together with the communities we lead group walking conversations where at each stop participants would share stories, thoughts and inputs as well. We visited locals to hear from them and, of course, used the periscope that we built together in a DIY workshop we facilitated at the start of the day. Together we explored the streets and our experiences from a children's eye level perspective !
